The ultimate guide to a clean face, a good choice is all you need!
We all know how important it is to look after our skin, especially the face! It is the first thing people look at when they see us so make it a good one, it might be hard and daunting to choose from but let me help you… Here it is, an ultimate guide to face cleansing formulas – let’s get started!
1.Micelle waters (ideal for quick cleanse, all skin types)
Micelle solution like the Bioderma which is water that you wet a cotton pad with and remove the makeup and impurities from your face. It is a great invention, even for the sensitive skin types! Best friend for quick touch-ups! For the night cleansing I recommend to follow up with another product from the ones I am going to mention below ☺
2. Oil based cleansers (ideal for dry/sensitive skin)
An oil based formulas like remover for the more sensitive areas of your face like the eyes and to remove heavy make up like the Cleansing Beauty Oil from Shu Uemura, my favourite. I like to massage my face first and then wipe gently with the clean cotton pad then rinse your face with water because the oil can make your skin appear greasy; I highly recommend to use oil based cleanser for all skin types, as its gentle and efficient, deal for you especially if you suffer with the dry skin.
3. Cleansing Balms (perfect for breakouts)
like the (1.) EveLom , (2.) Clinique Take the Day Off – one of my favourites , (3.)Bobbi Brown Extra Balm Rinse, or (4.) Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm – the idea behind them is that you take a small dab of the balm (some of them are of stale coconut oil like consistency) massage it between the palms of your fingers and let it melt with the heat of your hand, then you massage it onto your face and the balm (oil) melts the particles of the makeup. After you’ve finished massaging it off you just simply rinse the product off your face.
4. Face gels (good to remove make up as well as cleanse the impurities)
A face gel, there is many to choose from, but make sure that the one you use doesn’t dry out your skin. My Favourite is Nuxe Reve de Miel Get Nettoyant, with honey and sunflower. Lovely product, with an amazing relaxing smell and very efficiant. I like to use the gel wash one/two times per week, when I need this feeling of fresh and clean skin, especially in summer.
5. Facial Soaps (oily skin/breakouts)
A bar of soap would also satisfy the need of a clean face, just like the Clinique face soap bar. Does the job, it is dermatologically tested so good for sensitive skin – old school type of thing, I like to use them with special brush creating a muss… ☺6. Hot cloth cleanser. (oily skin)
An easy and thorough cleanse product like the ever so known Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser, the idea is simple and such a good invention. You squirt a pump or two onto the palms of your hands and massage into your skin, which lets the product start and dissolve the makeup and then you wet your muslin cloth in warm water (usually given as part of a set) and wring it out, then you gently remove the product from your face with the muslin cloth and voila
7. Glov – (all skin types / sensitive skin)
It’s a smart idea from a polish brand, a glove with micro fibre which removes make-up and cleanse skin only with water. It doesn’t irritate the hydro lipidic skin barrier. GLOV removes even strong eye make-up and mascara. Practical and efficient toll!
8.Mud cleanser – (target individual needs of the skin)
My newest find, a mud to foam by GlamGlow. There are four different and each one is for different skin concerns; Thristymud the one I love is a moisture restore cleanser, Youth cleanse which is skin renewing and exfoliating, Powercleanse which is a two-in-one product with oil on one side and mud on the other creating a really powerful and deep cleanse and lastly Supercleanse which is ideal for problematic skin and oily skin as it mattifies it. The idea behind this product is that you squirt a pump or two onto the palms of your hand, and what you see is mud (like the GlamGlow masks) then you massage it onto your face and it turns into foam, after you’ve massaged it in you just rinse it off. I use the moisture restore one and it is ideal because of the coconut water it contains, my skin feels moisturised after use and not tight like some products have been leaving it.
9. Mousse. ( good solution for all skin types / Oily Skin)
The advantage of using the mousse is that its soft formula protect the skin hydrolipidic film, and the soft touch gives us wonderful micro massage. One of my favourites is one from Sisley.
10. Homemade recipes – coconut oil
Personally I like to use pure coconut oil when removing the makeup, giving myself a little massage, then taking of the excess with cotton pad. I like to rinse my face and to finish spray the rose water. I do it once/twice a week.
I hope this has been a little help with the different formulas out there, as there are so many that it can be so hard to know what each of them provides and how to use the different products. Remember, when choosing a formula look at the ingredients and work out if you had any previous reactions or whatsoever to any ingredients; choose what you feel you will enjoy using. I like to change the formulas, as I love testing new products. But also I believe that it’s good for our skin to change the routines, to give our skin what’s the best.
