`Who is Dariia Day?
My name is Dariia Day, I come from Boleslawiec, now living in Paris. I am a make-up artist, I work in the fashion world, both in photo shoots and at fashion shows. I am fortunate to work with the best photographers, the best models, with big magazines. Thanks to this work I have already travelled half the world and I`m living my dreams.`
But back to the beginning. You come from Boleslawiec. You finished high school in 2009. It all happened quite recently. How did it happen that during those five years you got to where you are now?
It has been my dream to work in the fashion world since the early years. It already started in high school. I remember that once I had classes with a lady who wanted to inspire us and asked everyone about their plans. Other students talked about rather mundane things. I wanted to work in the fashion world. I passionately watched Fashion TV at my grandparents’ – noted when another report from the backstage of fashion shows. Then I thought that I would be a stylist … I didn’t even know what makeup was. But over time, I read more about it on the Internet. At 16-years-old I found a make-up school in Wroclaw and I told my parents I did not want to go on holiday; I just wanted to spend my vacation being a student of this school. My parents agreed, but the school did not want to accept me because I was underage. But it worked! It was a strongly accelerated course, but I was motivated. Previously, I did not have too much knowledge for example. For makeup products, I learned the basics there and it really made me happy because many people have seen since the beginning of my talent.
My parents are the owners of the company Boleslawiec Clothing Children `DiD Polish Children’s Clothing”. I know that after my mom I have an artistic soul and light to the world of fashion. Together, we went together to Paris for a fashion fair, perhaps in 2006. It was a great experience, which further motivated me to action.
After the makeup course with my sister, who is a photographer, we started to work together on photographs. We had a session with all my best friends from high school. I put on his MySpace, which was called “Pimp your face” (laughs). This was really a blog, there were different pictures, and those of my make-up were very … creative (laughs). Very colorful and original. He wrote to me, Quite unexpectedly, one of London’s fashion magazines wrote to me. They thought that I was doing cosmetics. During our conversation, they found out how old I was and what I was doing and were so excited about it that they made a big interview with me. After the interview, they said that they wanted to use my photos as one of their covers. One of my classmates appeared so on the cover, and the picture was done by my sister in our room. It was an amazing experience and it made me very motivated.
Right after that I started to look for make-up schools to continue my education in this field. I found one in Hollywood and I told my parents I don`t want to do anything else but to learn make-up.
